First Sports Report of 2023-24

Wrekin sport began this week on one of the hottest days of the year!

Hockey

Girl’s hockey started this term with preseason for a number of age groups on Saturday.

Netball

In netball, a new-look 1st team and a young U16 team had an intense training session on Friday and both teams took a trip to RGS Worcester on Saturday morning. The matches were played in oppressive heat, but in true Wrekinian style the girls gave their all. The U16s lost narrowly by four goals, and the 1st team played out of their skin against a very strong opposition to achieve a 35-24 win.

Rugby

A warm start to the rugby season began against Hereford Cathedral School. The U14s had a landmark win, sporting some excellent new players who led from the front in their 28-27 win.

The 1st XV lost 26-24 in a game involving ten new caps. Elliot lead the team well, with many positives and lessons being learned in tough conditions.

The U15s had a great start to the season with a superb 29-12 win. There were excellent performances from all the boys, which bodes well for the upcoming season.

A fine effort for the first weekend of sport this term. Excellent squad availability has the season up and running. Well done all.
