Junior House Debating Competition – so far!

So far we have had three rounds of the competition, with lots of spirited debating.

The first round was Tudor taking on Bayley and Clarkson taking on York. The motion was – “This House believes that returning to the moon is a waste of time, money and resources.” After a fantastic range of compelling arguments and questions from the floor, it was decided that Bayley were the winners of their debate, with a draw being decided between Clarkson and York.

The motion of the second round was “This House believes that the benefits of artificial intelligence outweigh the risks.” Bayley faced Clarkson, and York took on Roslyn. There was lots of spirited debate and some brilliant questions from the floor about the future of AI. Ultimately Clarkson and York were the winners of this round of debates.

The third round saw Clarkson take on Tudor while Roslyn challenged Bayley. The motion was “This House believes that influencers have far too much influence.”, which prompted a high standard of debating with some great points of interest and questions from the floor. Ultimately the winners of this round were Clarkson and Roslyn.
