Junior House Debating Final

The Junior House Debating competition came to a head with the final taking place in Chapel between Clarkson and York. The motion was ‘This house believes that freedom of speech should always include the right to offend’. There was some impressive and confident debating on show, and some great questions from the floor. The adjudicators were the Headmaster Mr Spence and Mr Smith, and although it was a close contest they announced the winners as… Clarkson!

In the latter half of the competition the motions debated were about topics such as having a maximum age limit for those in public office, and whether scientists should face responsibility for their research.

Congratulations to Clarkson once again, and to all our pupils who represented their house throughout the competition as it is not always easy to debate in front of your peers!
