Thursday 16th February

Under 11 Mixed TAG team at the Telford & Wrekin Schools rugby tournament.

Old Hall sent a mixed team to a TAG tournament with over 20 schools from Telford & Wrekin.

It was an excellent afternoon which saw the players improve in every game. The inter-play between all the players was excellent to see and the way they fought to take the tags was great.

We were in group 2 against Lawley Primary School, St Patrick’s School and Captain Webb Primary School.

Old Hall won all three matches to top the group. The quarter-final match was against Apley Wood School which the players won.

The semi-final match saw Old Hall play against a very quick Newdale Primary School. This was a very tense match but the players sealed the victory in the dying seconds of the game, to reach the final for the second year in a row.

The final saw our opponents, who had had two very experienced rugby players, take a two try lead. However, the team battled hard and capatilised on mistakes to level the game and take it into extra time. After three minutes of sudden death extra time the sides could not be separated and both teams took the gold medals and will represent Telford & Wrekin in the County Games, which is scheduled to be played in May.
