Sports Report

Last week, was another busy week for Wrekin sport.

Hockey

In hockey the U18 girls A and B teams played against Moreton Hall, coming away with a win and a draw.

On Saturday, the First Form boys got their first taste of hockey this year in a friendly tournament, with five students playing hockey for the first time.

The U16 girls won against Shrewsbury School with Ava scoring a hat-trick, and the U18 girls came away with a draw.

Netball

The U16 girls netball team progress to the Regional Finals after finishing runners up in the County Championships.

Rugby

There was some excellent Rugby played in extremely wet weather this week.

On Saturday, the U14 team put in a strong performance against St Joseph’s College, gaining a comfortable 36 – 5 victory, with some excellent team tries. 

The U15 team have had another fabulous week. A sensational 40-22 win in the National Vase against South Bromsgrove, followed by a 47-7 win against St Joseph’s. Well done to all involved.

The 1st XV also turned it on in the National Vase against Newcastle Under Lyme. A 26-24 win progresses them to the 4th Round, with Giovanni making the difference up front in the first half.

Badminton

On Wednesday the badminton team lost out in a close match against Ellesmere, with plenty of students having the opportunity to play competitive badminton.

Golf

On Sunday, five golfers represented the school in the OWA golf day at Little Aston. Zach was the pick of the players, winning the Gross Trophy for the best score.
