STEM Day at Old Hall

It was a very exciting morning as we began our STEM day with a visit from a Royal Navy helicopter which landed on our school fields! To launch our new subject of Innovation and as part of the STEM day, all of the children got a chance to look inside the helicopter to understand more about how it works and the STEM that sits behind the machine. Mr Nogues, our new Head of Digitech and Innovation, ran a series of workshops throughout the day for all the pupils.

The pupils took part in a variety of exciting activities such as parachute, structure and helicopter design followed by a Q and A session with the pilots before getting to take a look around the helicopter!

Thank you very much to the pilots (the instructors from Shawbury are a mix of military (Navy, Army and RAF) and civilians (Ascent) personnel, who teach students from all three Services) for playing a huge part in such an exciting day!
