Welcome To Wrekin
Wrekin College is a flourishing co-educational day and boarding school in a beautiful part of central England.
Well served by transport links, it combines the benefits of rural and urban living, and is an unusually happy place to work and study. The school community is very strong, with excellent relationships between pupils and staff. We consider it to be our pleasure and privilege to welcome pupils from across the world to be a vital part of our Wrekin family.
Wrekin is over 140 years old, with all the traditions of an English education while also being a cosmopolitan, vibrant community. Opportunities abound in music, art, sport, drama and debating, Combined Cadet Force and the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme as well as many other activities. We endeavour to give all of our pupils a rich and full life. However, our main focus is on academic achievement, producing well-educated and rounded individuals with a wealth of skills to enable them to confidently enter the world of university, further education and employment.

Acceptance and Confirmation
Pupils are offered places at Wrekin on the basis of the information provided, recent school reports, a Skype interview and results of academic assessments. Completion of the Acceptance Form along with payment of the relevant acceptance deposit confirms a place at Wrekin.
Scholarships, Awards and Fees
Wrekin College offers a number of scholarships and exhibitions for pupils hoping to enter the school. The number and size of awards in any particular year are at the discretion of the Headmaster. A scholarship or exhibition is offered in recognition of exceptional ability and promise and is usually accompanied by a financial reward of up to 25 per cent of the fees. In cases of need, the school will consider applications to supplement an award with a means-tested bursary to enable the award and place to be taken up.
As well as financial reward, a scholarship or exhibition carries with it privileges and responsibilities. Every award holder is expected to set an example to other pupils in their approach to academic study and participation in the wider life of the school. Awards are usually for the duration of a pupil’s education at Wrekin, provided they continue enthusiastically to fulfil the obligations associated with the award. Awards and bursaries are reviewed annually.
TWIG
TWIG stands for The Wrekin International Group. TWIG is part of our package for international boarders to help welcome and support them at Wrekin and to promote inclusion and friendship with other pupils. The society ensures that they are fully integrated into school life and provides them with additional social activities so they can connect with other international boarders in the same situation as themselves, away from home and in a different country.
TWIG holds special events throughout the year, along with other events based on national calendars relevant to current international boarders such as Poland Independence Day, Festa della Repubblica and Chinese New Year.
Boarding
Our boarding accommodation is spacious and of high quality, housing pupils in a mix of small dormitories and (especially for the older years) double or single studies, some with ensuite or private bathrooms. All houses have a range of common rooms and other facilities – kitchens, bathrooms and games rooms. Boys can board in either Tudor or Bayley, while girl boarders spend evenings and weekends in their purpose-built hall of residence, Hadden Hall
The girls’ Hall of Residence, Hadden Hall, is run by Helena and Finn Milton, who have responsibility for female boarders in the school, including those who stay on a flexi-boarding basis. It offers purpose-built boarding accommodation in a mix of small dormitories, common rooms, single and double studies. During the day all girls, day or boarding, congregate in either Clarkson or Roslyn.
Pre-A level programme
Our Pre-A level programme is very popular, offering excellent preparation for A level study, and later, university entrance. The programme is a one-year GCSE level course, with intensive English tuition, designed specifically for international pupils aged between 15 and 17 who wish to study for A levels but who need another year to be ready for its challenges. It concentrates upon courses in which international pupils can excel in one year. At the same time, it provides comprehensive preparation for all of the school’s A level courses, both in its introduction to schooling via the English examination system and its subject grounding. Pupils are fully integrated into all aspects of school life and lessons are targeted to individual needs rather than being purely examination focussed.
